The collective of student associations at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) reaffirmed yesterday its firm stance regarding the payment of student scholarships, in a statement released on November 19, 2025. According to the document, the collective, a unique structure responsible for defending the interests of students, remains unsatisfied with the proposals and commitments presented by the authorities, despite several recent meetings and exchanges.

The statement specifies that an emergency meeting was convened on the order of the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, by his technical advisor, and that discussions also took place with the Directors of COUD and Scholarships. A meeting was also held in the evening with the Presidential advisor, Mr. Ousmane Sonko Jr. However, the collective indicates that the proposals received do not meet the students’ expectations and reiterates its demand: full and unconditional payment of scholarships.

In its text, the collective commends the mobilization of students over the past two days, described as “impressive,” while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured comrades, considered symbols of courage and dignity. The various represented associations – FSJP, FASEG, and other faculties – emphasize that the struggle remains their motto and that only collective mobilization will lead to success.

The statement emphasizes the collective’s ongoing commitment to the student community. Despite discussions with the authorities, the message is clear: the collective will not give in and will maintain pressure until the full settlement of scholarships, reaffirming its position as a defender of students’ rights and its determination to support the mobilization of university youth.
