Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is expected to visit Abidjan on December 8 to attend the inauguration ceremony of Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, who was recently reelected for a fourth term on October 25. The information was reported by Jeune Afrique.

Several African leaders are expected to attend this event. Among them are Djiboutian President Ismaël Omar Guelleh, Congolese Denis Sassou Nguesso, Gabonese Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, as well as Guinean President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who is currently in the midst of an election period. Liberia will be represented by President Joseph Boakai, while former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama is also expected to attend. Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé is also expected to take part in the ceremony.

Regarding France, Jeune Afrique notes that “France has not yet communicated the identity of its representative to Ivory Coast for this ceremony,” recalling that in 2020, Paris was represented by its then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
