Here are the members of the new government

Following the attempted coup that shook the country, the President of the Transition Republic, Major-General Horta N’ta, promulgated Presidential Decree No. 04/2025, formalizing the formation of a new government. This decision comes in a context of strong political and security tensions, as institutions struggle to regain stability.

The new executive is composed of 23 ministers and 5 secretaries of state, bringing together both civilian personalities and high-ranking military officials, a sign of a stated willingness to consolidate state authority in times of crisis.

Among the key appointed ministers are:
– João Bernardo Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities
– Brigadier-General Mamasaliu Embaló, Minister of the Interior and Public Order
– Usna António Quadé, Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Affairs
– Carlos Pinto Pereira, Minister of Justice and Human Rights
– Mamadú Mudjetaba Djaló, Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Integration
– Major-General Stive Lassana Manssaly, Minister of National Defense
– Comodoro Quinhin Nantote, Minister of Public Health
– Virgínia Mária da Cruz Godinho Pires Correia, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy
– Juelma Cubala, Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports
– Khady Florence Dabo Correia, Minister of Women and Social Solidarity

Appointed Secretaries of State:

Five secretariats of state have also been assigned:
– Mamadú Baldé, Secretary of State for the Treasury
– Elísio Gomes Sá, Secretary of State for Budget and Fiscal Affairs
– Comissário Principal Salvador Soares, Secretary of State for Public Order
– Rear Admiral Carlos Alfredo Mandughal, Secretary of State for the Struggles for the Freedom of the Fatherland

International pressures and political uncertainties:

The installation of this transitional government comes as ECOWAS and several international partners maintain pressure on the authorities, calling for a return to constitutional order and the release of individuals arrested after the attempted coup. The new cabinet will have to manage both security emergencies and diplomatic negotiations simultaneously, in a particularly unstable national climate.
