he wins 239 million on 1XBET, loses it and steals 7 million before being arrested

On September 13, 2025, the U15 Police Station in Parcelles Assainies arrested an individual for committing burglary at night.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, on September 3, 2025, his store located in Cambéréne 1 was burglarized. The thief took a Samsung phone, used for financial transactions. A few days later, the victim noticed that the WAVE account, connected to his bank account via the stolen phone, had been used for several withdrawals totaling about 7 million CFA francs.

A requisition sent to the mobile money structure concerned and the exploitation of surveillance cameras allowed to identify the different withdrawal points used by the suspect. The investigators then traced the personal phone number of the suspect, after he made a deposit at a transfer point in Ouest Foire, leading to his location and arrest.

The suspect admitted to the facts. He explained that he had entered the store by cutting the door and used the stolen money to gamble on the XBET platform, where he had become addicted since winning 239 million CFA francs in 2023, which he lost by continuing to bet. He also admitted to using false identities to open new phone numbers and bypass verification systems. Checks on his phone confirmed his confession.

The suspect was placed in custody. The investigation is ongoing. The police remind the population that they can report any useful information by contacting the toll-free number 800 00 17 00.
