The government of Senegal has made public the school calendar for the academic year 2025-2026. According to the decree signed by Prime Minister Bassirou Diomaye Faye, classes will begin on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 8 a.m. and will end on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 6 p.m. for students.
The school year will be divided into three terms. The first term will run from October 6 to December 23, 2025. After a short break, the second term will take place from January 5 to March 28, 2026. As for the third term, it will start on April 13 and end on July 31, 2026. The interim holidays are also specified: from December 23 to January 5 for the first term, and from March 28 to April 13 for the second.
Regarding the summer holidays, students will leave classes on July 31, 2026 at 6 p.m. and will not return until October 7 at 8 a.m. For administrative and teaching staff, the resumption is scheduled for October 5, two days before the students return. This distribution, the text specifies, falls under the authority of the minister responsible for vocational training establishments.
Finally, the decree emphasizes that several ministries are involved in the implementation of the calendar: the Armed Forces, Vocational and Technical Training, Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructures, as well as National Education.
