Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is… goodness…”

Goodness is more than being pleasant or respectable. Biblical goodness flows from a heart being shaped by God’s character. It desires what’s right, loves what’s true, and seeks to do what honours the Lord. It is moral integrity expressed in action.

The flesh naturally bends toward selfishness and compromise. But the Spirit produces a growing desire for holiness and uprightness.

Goodness affects every part of life… how we speak, how we treat people, how we handle money, and how we respond when no one is watching. True goodness isn’t an outward performance for appearances. It’s an inward transformation that produces visible fruit.

And goodness isn’t passive. Sometimes goodness is gentle encouragement, sometimes it’s sacrificial service, and sometimes it is courageously confronting what’s wrong.

Jesus showed perfect goodness. He welcomed the broken, cared for the needy, spoke truth boldly, and lived without compromise. His goodness was both compassionate and holy. This is important today because many people redefine “goodness” according to culture, feelings, or personal opinion. But true goodness is defined by God, not man.

The Spirit never leads us away from truth or holiness. He forms within us a life that increasingly reflects the goodness of Christ. Goodness isn’t merely appearing moral outwardly, but BECOMING MORE LIKE CHRIST INWARDLY. Where the Spirit is at work, holiness and integrity grow.

Prayer:
Father, produce true goodness within me through Your Spirit. Help me to love what is right, reject what dishonours You, and live with integrity in every area of my life. May my life reflect the goodness of Christ to those around me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
