Team Samoa Wrestling has made waves at the Australian International Super Series Tournament in Sydney Australia, coming away with an outstanding overall result of three gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze medals.
Shane Palemia won one gold and two silver medals, while Jay Alofipo won two gold and two bronze medals!

Samoa Wrestling President Tuaopepe Asiata Jerry Wallwork said it is an outstanding result and gave credit to Samoa’s national weightlifting coaches for a job well done in preparing the Team.
Mr Yuta Abe and Mr Gaku Akazawa are the two coaches for the Samoa national wrestling team.
Yuta and Gaku have been instrumental in the sport’s revival in Samoa, with Yuta focusing on technical and psychological support in developing the national training program and Gaku serving as a high-level coach and athlete.
Yuta Abe is a JICA volunteer who coaches the national team, focusing on technical and psychological support, while Gaku Akazawa is the Head Coach and a professional wrestler who also represents Samoa as an athlete.
There were Referee and Coaching Level trainings run alongside the competition and Samoa’s Weightlifting Administrators did not let the opportunity pass them by.
