Sua Fa’alogo has been named Melbourne Storm’s Player of the Year after an impressive 2026 NRL season.

Ryan Papenhuyzen stepped away from rugby league at the end of the 2025 season, which meant Fa’alogo became Melbourne’s starting fullback this year in his first full season as a regular starter.

In his 24 appearances, the man from Siumu scored 18 tries and averaged 192 running metres per game.

Fa’alogo didn’t just have a habit of scoring tries; he could set them up too, recording 15 try assists this season.

Sua worked his way through the Victorian rugby league system before making his Storm debut in 2023, becoming just the fifth Victorian to play for the club.

Fa’alogo now hopes to take this form into the Rugby League World Cup when he runs out for Samoa in October.
