Manumalo Academy 10th grader Rachael Park placed 4th overall in the Energy Sustainable Material and Design Category at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held earlier this month in Phoenix Arizona.
Her project evaluated breadfruit as a renewable source for biofuel , exploring the potential renewability and efficiency of bioethanol derived from breadfruit pulp and peels.
Park was the overall winner of the 202y6 Territorial Science Fair.
Other students who participated in the 2026 Regeneron ISEF held May 9-16 were Kim Garcia of Faasao Marist High School, Alana Joserose of Pacific Horizons School and Yoon Seo Pyo also of Pacific Horizons School.
Dr Joserose who accompanied the students said they represented American Samoa well and the Department of Education congratulates them for their outstanding efforts.
