By: Leota Marc Membrere, Gvt Press. “Come do your test”. Prime Minister La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt is challenging Opposition Leader Hon Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, and Member of Parliament Hon Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi, to get drug tested.
In December last year, La’aulialemalietoa had called for the implementation of mandatory drug testing for all of government.
At the time it was announced all public servants including police, teachers, doctors, “starting with Cabinet and Members of Parliament.”

Last week, the Prime Minister led by example, by being the first to be tested as part of the Public Service drug testing programme launched in Apia last Tuesday 24 March, administered by the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa (SROS).
Laaulialemalietoa tested negative, and having been cleared he is now calling on Hon Tuilaepa and Hon Lealailepule, to come forward for testing.
The Prime Minister candidly said the two M.P.’s have always connected him to drugs and had accused him of being a drug lord.
“Come and do your tests – if not, SROS will be sent to do your tests.”
At his press conference this afternoon La’aulialemalietoa said drug tests will be rolled out for Parliamentarians next week.
Parliamentary committees are currently meeting, and Parliament is scheduled to convene again in May.
