Former Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, Hon Loau Solamalemalo Gafauatau Keneti Sio retains the Sagaga 1 seat by a margin of 556.
Loau has been Parliamentarian for nearly 20 years, having first entered Parliament in 2006 as an Independent.
He joined the HRPP and was appointed Associate Minister of Education. He subsequently lost his seat in the 2011 general election but was re-elected in 2016 and given the Education portfolio.
He has served as an opposition MP since 2021.
Loau was an ellusive centre for the Manu Samoa. His first cap for Samoa was in 1988 against Tonga in Apia. His last international cap was also against Tonga at Moamoa on 4 June 1994.
Loau represented Samoa for a total of 12 years, and was part of the 1991 and 1995 Rugby World Cup squads.
Loau was educated at Faleula Primary School before studying at Samoa College. He worked in a bank and as a farmer and fisherman. He also worked as a flight attendant.
