American Samoa’s Election Office is issuing its final announcement for eligible American Samoans and U.S. citizens who wish to run for the House of Representatives and U.S. Congress, with the nomination petition deadline set for Tuesday, September 1, at 4:30 p.m.
Commissioner of Election Uiagalelei Lealofi is encouraging all prospective candidates to allow enough time to collect their nomination materials and submit them before the deadline. The official list of candidates will be publicly announced once all requirements have been met.
The office also says voter registration is currently open for the upcoming midterm election. Those who haven’t yet registered are encouraged to visit the election office, bringing a birth certificate or passport, a social security card, and a valid photo ID.
The office also offers assistance with lost ID cards, name changes, and voter registration transfers. For more information, contact the Election Office at 699-3570 or visit their office in Tafuna.
