Apia, Samoa 21 August 2026. Vodafone Samoa proudly celebrated and honoured Samoa’s two medalists, Seine Stowers and John Lautafi Tafi, following their remarkable performances at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Seine Stowers claimed Gold in a record-breaking performance to take out the Women’s 77kg Weightlifting event.

The 18-year-old from Fa‘ala Palauli and the Sasa‘ai, Savai‘i set a new Commonwealth Games record for the snatch with a massive 107kg lift. Her total of 237kg secured gold over England’s Isabella Brown.

John Tafi secured Silver in the Men’s 71kg Weightlifting event with a snatch of 142kg  and a clean & jerk of 172kg.

Vodafone Samoa celebrated the athletes’ outstanding achievements with an exciting prize package valued at a combined total of approximately WST$15,000 tala.

Samoa’s sole Gold Medal winner was presented with the latest Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, a 5G Router and Vodafone Top-Up, while the Silver Medal winner received a Dell Pro 15 Laptop, 5G Router, Samsung Music Frame Lifestyle Soundbar and Vodafone Top-Up.

Adding to the excitement, Vodafone Samoa also held a special surprise draw for a Samsung 55″ TV, which was won by one of the two medal-winning athletes.

These special prizes are Vodafone Samoa’s way of recognising the athletes’ hard work, determination and incredible performances, while celebrating the pride and inspiration they have brought to Samoa on the international stage.

Vodafone Samoa remains committed to supporting the development of sport in Samoa by creating opportunities for athletes to develop their talents and pursue their sporting aspirations.

Earlier this year, Vodafone Samoa was a Major Sponsor of the IWF World Cup hosted in Samoa, supporting the growth of weightlifting and helping provide athletes with an international platform to compete atthe highest level.

The success of Seine and John is a testament to their dedication, discipline and hard work, while also serving as an inspiration to the next generation of Samoan athletes.

The celebration at Vodafone Maluafou HQ also acknowledged the important  role played by the athletes families, coaches, supporters and communities, whoseencouragement a and commitment have been an integral part of their sporting journeys.

Vodafone Samoa also proudly acknowledged and congratulated Afioga Tuaopepe Vui Asiata Jerry Wallwork on being elected the President of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation.

This well-deserved recognition reflects Afioga Tuaopepe’s leadership, dedication, service and outstanding contribution. His commitment and achievements have made a meaningful impact and continue to serve as an inspiration to others.
