An executive order issued today by Governor Pulaali’i Nikolao Pula makes changes to the membership of the Board of Directors of the American Samoa Shipyard Services Authority.
The changes reduce the members of the shipyard board to 7 and clarifies that appointees to the board serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
According to the order, the authority is governed by a board of 7 directors, appointed by the Governor. At least two of the directors shall be experience in the management of shipyards and/or sea going vessels and at least two shall be from private industries served by the authority’s shipyard. It also provides that the board of directors shall meet at least twice per quarter and a quorum is 4 directors.
The Governor also named a new Board of Directors for the Shipyard Services Authority.
They are Krista Haleck who is reappointed from the previous board, Lei Ve’ave’a, Timothy Jones Sr., Sean Gregg, Solomona Joe Moala Jr., Edgar Feliciano and Roman Rishi.
The board is to elect its chairman and vice chairman annually from among members.
Senator Togiola Tulafono is the former chairman of the Shipyard Services Authority Board.
