One hundred and ninety six (196) students have been offered places to attend Year 9 at Samoa College for 2026, selected by the results of two examinations – a 2-hour English and a 2-hour Mathematics test.
Samoa College Principal Afioga Karene Faasisila said a total of 844 students sat the entrance exam from 133 schools across Samoa.
Out of the 133 primary schools, only 54 had successful students. The success rate also means 79 primary schools across Samoa did not have a student in the Top 190 places.
Samoa Primary School has been offered 36 places while Apia Primary School has been offered 23. These two schools traditionally have the most SamCo entrants every year.
Vaimea Primary School registers at 3rd place but is also noted as the most improved results. Vaimea had 8 students on the SamCo list for 2025 and now a whopping 19 students have made it into Samoa College from Vaimea this year.
Vaivase Primary School has the 4th highest places with 16. Vaiala Beach School is next up with 10 students.
St Peter Chanel – 8, Moataa Primary – 7 and Robert Louis – 6.

“There was the continued silent prayers and support of parents and family noted on the day of exams, and it is always a memorable part of the entrance exam for us to see the commitment of parents and families who travel from across Upolu and Savaii.

Ms Faasisila says they wish they could take in more students but due to limited resources and staffing, they have managed to offer 196 students for the 2026 intake.
That is only 23% of those who sat the entrance exams.
“Our goal is 180 students but we always offer excess to cater for those who pass but may choose a different path,” said Ms Faasisila.
“We wish all Year 12 students the very best for their National Exams which started today.”
Parents are to confirm acceptance of the places offered by 5th December 2025, by submitting all the relevant documents and national exam results.
