PRIME MINISTER, Dr. Godwin Friday at his first meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government expressed his delight to be at the “vitally important” meeting “at such a critical time for our region”.
As a new head of government, and at his inaugural CARICOM Heads meeting, Dr. Friday acknowledged he may have much to learn about the processes across the organs of the 50-year-old organisation, but remarked that being “unfettered by the trials and frustrations of the past” he may be able to bring some insight or added motivation to the grouping.
The Heads of Government meeting, wraps up today, February 27, 2026 in St Kitts.
“Over the years, we have come to near breaking points, “words” have been exchanged among leaders, meetings have failed or even failed to take place because of inability to agree on critical matters, or lack of will. And for that, we are mocked as being more “Carigone” than CARICOM. Yet here we are.
