SECOND IN COMMAND of the Narcotics Unit of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), Sergeant Shaun Chandler, said some pharmacies that sell medicinal cannabis are breaking the law.

“Many of them are not in keeping with the regulations as it pertains to that aspect of the business,” Sergeant Chandler told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 during an exhibition outside the Central Police Station in Kingstown.

The veteran police officer said that some pharmacy outlets that have the privilege to sell medicinal cannabis to people are selling more than the allowed quantity, and are also selling to people who do not have the proper documentation/ prescription or medicinal cannabis identification card.

On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the Parliament of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) approved two bills, The Medicinal Cannabis Industry Bill 2018, and The Cannabis Cultivation (Amnesty) Bill 2018. The Bills allow a platform for the prescription of medicinal marijuana among other things.
