OPPOSITION LEADER, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, has taken the Dr. Godwin Friday-led government to task over its silence on the destruction of an apparent fishing vessel off the coast of Canouan last Friday, February 16, 2026; an act which the US military has admitted to.

Boat wreckage was also said to have been found in waters off Owia also on Friday.

Speaking on Monday, February 16, 2026 on Star Radio Dr. Gonsalves stated: “I want to begin to talk about the blowing up of boats by the American authorities. Fishing boats. I’ve been advised that one has been found off the coast of Canouan and one off the coast in Owia. This government hasn’t said anything yet about these matters. At least not as far as I know before I came on”.
