Opposition Member of Parliament, and Vice President of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Major St Clair Leacock, has publicly made clear his position on attendance at the opening of the Modern Port at Rose Place, in capital, Kingstown.

“ Well you could know that me ain’t gwine no opening ah no port,” Leacock stated at a meeting of the New Democratic Party (NDP) on Bequia, on Sunday, October,19,2025. The Modern Port in Kingstown is scheduled to begin operating on October, 25, 2025, and a formal opening ceremony is planned for that date.
