CANDIDATES CONTESTING the November 27, 2025 general elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) filed their nomination papers at designated points within the various constituencies on Monday, November 10, 2025. The main parties- the Unity Labour Party (ULP), and the New Democratic Party (NDP), each filed a full slate of 15 candidates. Accompanied by jubilant supporters, the candidates submitted their nomination forms as well as the required $500 deposit to the Returning Officers, and now prepare for the last two weeks of campaigning for the elections. Five of the NDP candidates are newcomers, while the ULP has six persons who are first time candidates.
“Its a great honour to be nominated by the requisite number of registered voters in North Central Windward,” Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsavles told members of the media after submitting his nomination papers. In East Kingstown, the NDP’s candidate, Fitzgerald Bramble, said he was excited “because I can’t wait until liberation day to come when the people of this country will finally take back the power into their hands and vote for the New Democratic Party to lead us into a more prosperous and productive St Vincent and the Grenadines”.
The ULP candidate for East Kingstown, Luke Browne, commenting after submitting his nomination papers said he was “ready to rumble”.
“…the nomination process is an important part of the preparation for elections. This signals that we are more or less entering the final phase of the campaign…and we are just making sure that we have all our machinery in place, that we mobilise throughout the constituency…,” Browne told SEARCHLIGHT.
The ULP is seeking a sixth consecutive term in office, while the NDP is seeking to end several years of being in opposition. Both sides have expressed confidence in victory at the polls.
