Saint Lucia will once again grace the stage of the most prestigious international pageant, Miss Universe, set for Thailand on November 21, 2025.
On Saturday August 30, the Grand Coronation for Miss Universe Saint Lucia was held at the Sandals Golf & Country Club in Cap Estate. There, twenty-one year old Shianne Smith, a Neuroscience student was crowned by last year’s winner Skye Faucher.
The coronation night was the culmination of several challenges starting in April, following the selection of seven delegates. Through these challenges and tests, they were awarded scores which contributed to their final ranking.
On the night, the ladies first made an introductory appearance, followed by an elevation pitch where delegates spoke to their advocacy platforms. Their final appearance was in evening wear, responding to the interview questions posed by the panel of three judges.
The delegates this year were Michelle St. Hilaire, Shianne Smith, Jannae Leon, Leana Lewis, Saffron Gilbert-Kaluba, Sasha Joseph and Esther Destiny-Tommy.
Following the judges deliberation it was down to two contestants Smith and Leana Lewis who represented Dennery.
In the end Shianne Smith, who spoke on the platform of providing a network for young people suffering from stress related illnesses, was given the nod. Smith is the co-founder of Mindfield which she says is “a platform committed to making mental health resources accessible to underserved communities.” She was also awarded the Ms. Photogenic prize.
