Police and marine officers are continuing their search for the body of 20-year-old Ajanie Hippolyte of Marisule, Gros Islet, who is believed to have drowned off Marisule Beach on October 7.
According to a statement from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), officers from the Rodney Bay Police Station responded to reports of a suspected drowning around 4:50 p.m.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Hippolyte was part of a group of four people who had gone kayaking when their kayaks began taking on water and eventually overturned. The group reportedly attempted to swim back to shore, but Hippolyte encountered difficulties staying afloat. Efforts by his friends to rescue him were unsuccessful.
The Marine Unit of the RSLPF launched an immediate search operation but was unable to locate the young man. Police confirmed that the search resumed on October 8, 2025.
