UWP Candidate says Gros Islet residents “haven’t seen their representative” in over four years

Marcella Johnson has laid out a comprehensive vision for Gros Islet, with a strong focus on youth development and affordable healthcare. During a motorcade on Monday, Johnson told THE VOICE that residents have been overwhelmingly supportive during her campaign.
“They haven’t seen their representative for over four years, and now, in election year, he’s trying to make up for lost time,” she said, adding that “it’s too little, too late.”

According to Johnson, “For the most part, persons have been neglected for almost five years and they’re very disappointed.”
She emphasized her commitment to youth development and elderly care, highlighting the potential for growth and improvement.

Despite a low turnout on Monday, the energy and excitement could be felt, with support from Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet adding to the momentum.

Chastanet praised Johnson as a “woman of action” and criticized Casimir’s record on infrastructure development, stating, “We have a candidate… who’s here only to action for himself, not for the people of Gros Islet.”

Johnson outlined a series of promises, including bringing back “pride, productivity, and respect to Gros Islet; I’m here to fight for you, fight for your children, and fight for this nation,” she declared. “We want to leave a future that’s safe for our kids, and because of this, I’m going to fight to ensure Gros Islet gets the help it needs.” Johnson called on the Prime Minister to “ring the bell” and voters to “come out and vote them out” in large numbers.
