Orange is ramping up its 5G+ deployment across the Bucharest Metro network. After launching initial pilot projects in Preciziei and Păcii stations in November, the operator has now completed installations in Piața Victoriei 1 and 2, and this week activated the service in Aviatorilor.
The next wave of upgrades is scheduled before the end of December, bringing 5G+ to high-traffic stations including Piața Romană, Universitate, Piața Unirii 1 and 2, Tineretului, Aurel Vlaicu, Pipera, and Constantin Brâncoveanu across all metro lines.
The French operator aims to deliver uninterrupted high-speed connectivity for all Orange customers underground, not only on station platforms but also inside tunnels. Orange plans to fully equip the entire Bucharest Metro network with 5G+ by the end of 2026.
Orange currently holds the largest 5G/5G+ spectrum investment in Romania, totaling €265 million for a 25-year license period. Meanwhile, the latest ANCOM report confirms Orange is the fastest mobile network in Romania, with average download speeds of 95 Mbps.
