Trump extends pause on planned strikes on Iran’ energy strikes for second time – Doha News

Trump announced an extended pause on planned strikes against Iranian energy facilities, saying talks were progressing “despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others.”

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will extend the pause in strikes against Iran’s energy facilities by ten days, moving the deadline to Monday, 6  April 2026, which he claimed was at the request of the Iranian government, according to his post on Truth Social.

Trump wrote, “As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 pm, Eastern Time.”

He added that “talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that mediators say Iran did not request a 10‑day pause on strikes against its energy facilities. There has been no official comment from Iran.

The move extends an earlier five-day pause announced on Monday, which had been due to expire on Saturday. The new timeline carries the halt into early April as diplomatic discussions continue.

Trump’s announcement comes amid wider diplomatic efforts to de‑escalate hostilities and achieve a negotiated settlement in the ongoing war between the United States, Israel and Iran.

He insisted in his social media post that negotiations were progressing, pushing back against what he described as “erroneous statements” in media coverage of the talks.

The ten‑day extension is intended to provide additional time for diplomacy, though the wider situation remains fluid.
