The strongest wind gust associated with Storm Kristin, recorded by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), was 149 kilometres per hour at Cabo Carvoeiro, Peniche, at 4 am today.
The same source stated that this was the highest speed recorded at an IPMA station during the early morning bad weather, with other stations from other entities possibly recording different values.
The passage of Storm Kristin through Portuguese territory caused two deaths and several displaced people, with Civil Protection registering more than 2,600 incidents during the early morning and morning hours today.
