Speaking to journalists at the end of the executive meeting, João Rodrigues also said that, should the city council reach an agreement with Sporting de Braga regarding the Municipal Government, the money from that deal will be directly channelled towards the requalification of the 1º de Maio Stadium.

He explained that recovery projects for the 1º de Maio Stadium are being prepared to ensure readiness when funding becomes public-interestile, taking into account its public-interest status. He is preparing the project while remaining attentive to the possibility of new applications.

“I myself am always aware of this, because everyone has already realised that it is a facility that we have to rehabilitate sooner or later,” he added.

He did not set any deadlines.

He clarified: “I am not starting work tomorrow.”
