This will further strengthen its role as a key intercontinental gateway to the Iberian Peninsula. ANA Aeroportos/Vinci Airports reports that Porto will introduce 21 new routes.

The airport is focusing on expanding long-haul connections, highlighted by Delta Air Lines launching a direct Porto-JFK route in May.

The transatlantic expansion includes new routes to Cape Verde. EasyJet will serve São Vicente, Boa Vista, and Praia. TAP will launch regular flights to Praia in June. Ryanair will also introduce a new route to Rabat, Morocco.

Porto Airport expects connections to Eastern destinations to increase by over 20% compared to last year.This growth, detailed by Publituris, is supported by Turkish Airlines increasing its flights to Istanbul to 17 weekly.

El Al is also expanding its operations to Tel Aviv. Growth will also extend to cities such as Sofia (Bulgaria Air), Warsaw (LOT), Billund (Norwegian), Gothenburg (Ryanair), and Bucharest (Wizzair).

Several other capitals and secondary cities in countries such as Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic will also see increases.

This growth follows Porto Airport surpassing 16.9 million passengers in 2025. ANA’s recent €50 million investment in runway modernisation aims to support 6.3% growth and ensure efficiency.

Ongoing terminal upgrades include renovating the check-in area and modernising the Fast Track lane. The airport is expanding the Lounge. It is also creating dedicated circuits for passengers with reduced mobility and families.

CEO Thierry Ligonnière told Publituris that these upgrades will enhance Northern Portugal’s international connectivity, benefitting tourism and the regional economy.
