Louis Vuitton launches made in Portugal products

According to Público, APICCAPS – Portuguese Association of Footwear, Components, Leather Goods and Their Substitutes confirms that some Louis Vuitton leather products are produced in Portugal.

The process has been carried out in Portugal for several years; however, the final assembly of the items is done mainly in Italy.

During a visit to the Micam international footwear fair in Milan, the Secretary of State for the Economy, João Rui Ferreira, stated that “embracing Made in Portugal is an important step towards elevating the country as a luxury producer”. The Secretary of State also revealed that he intends to improve the sector in Portugal, making it “a sector of value rather than volume.”

In partnership with Atepeli – Ateliers de Portugal, Louis Vuitton has been producing its designs in Portugal for over ten years, namely luxury leather goods and footwear components. Most of the factories are located in Lousada, Penafiel, and Ponte de Lima, with a new factory opened in Santa Maria da Feira in 2020.
