Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reminded users on platform X that two years ago, he said “no” to the Migration Pact. “Then Donald Tusk came and said: ‘YES’. Now, thanks to the opposition of President Karol Nawrocki, we can once again delay its implementation. But for how long?” asked the Law and Justice (PiS) politician.
Unofficial reports suggest that the European Commission (EC) is considering exempting Poland from the migrant relocation mechanism and the related financial burdens. The reason is said to be the vast number of refugees from Ukraine who have been received since 2022. Although Donald Tusk announced on social media that he had “settled” the matter and that Poland would not be subject to relocation, Law and Justice politicians point out that the situation may not be as clear-cut.
This turn of events may be linked to a letter sent by President Karol Nawrocki to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. In it, the President stated that Poland would not agree to any actions by European institutions aimed at relocating illegal migrants to its territory. He also expressed hope that the Commission President would take this position into account in her decisions.
Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reminded users on platform X that, as head of the Polish government two years ago, he opposed the Migration Pact.
“Over two years ago, I said: STOP the Migration Pact! Then Donald Tusk came and said: YES to the Migration Pact. Now, thanks to the opposition of President Karol Nawrocki, we can once again delay its implementation. But for how long? Will Poland survive another #2yearsofchaos? Let’s say it loud: ENOUGH!” wrote Morawiecki.
“The decision is yours! What will you choose – chaos or security?” asked the former Prime Minister.
