The situation on the Polish labor market is becoming increasingly difficult. Soon, residents of the Lublin region employed by furniture giant Black Red White will feel its effects in a dramatic way, as the company announces a second wave of mass layoffs. Around 800 people are expected to lose their jobs in the near future.
Black Red White (BRW) is the largest employer in the Lublin region and one of the leading companies in Poland’s furniture industry. The company currently employs about 2,700 people, but due to restructuring and financial difficulties, it plans to cut around 800 positions.
Second wave of layoffs
At the beginning of 2025, BRW already carried out mass layoffs, forcing 500 employees to leave. However, that was not the end. In November, the company announced the start of a second round of redundancies, marking a serious blow to another 800 workers and their families.
The layoffs stem from the company’s financial problems and the closure of some of its organizational units. The “Solidarity” trade union is protesting the situation, demanding higher severance pay and attempting to negotiate conditions with the company’s new owner.
Black Red White is a key employer in the Lublin Voivodeship. The reduction of 800 jobs may have serious social and economic consequences, particularly in Biłgoraj and Zamość, where BRW’s plants have long been the backbone of the local labor market.
