highlighted that, thanks to a joint effort by various relevant institutions and the Ministry of Education, order was restored at Mariano Melgar School in Lima’s Breña district.
“Thanks to a joint effort by the community, the press, the National Police of Peru (PNP), the relevant institutions, and the firm action taken by the Ministry of Education (Minedu), we have restored order at Mariano Melgar Educational Institution No. 0004 in Breña,” Fujimori stated on X.
The Head of State added that measures will be announced in the coming days to guarantee order in classrooms, as well as restore discipline and respect at schools nationwide.
Minedu succeeded in recovering a sports area for Mariano Melgar School, known as “Marianito,” that had been occupied by third parties for 11 years, to the detriment of more than 542 kindergarten and elementary school students.
After recovering the three sports courts spanning 3,000 square meters, Education Minister Jose Antonio Chang Escobedo said that this action marks the beginning of efforts to restore order at more than 58 schools facing a similar situation.
He added that this is being done as ordered by President Fujimori.
