Peru: Presidential Office clarifies information on Head of State’s remuneration | Noticias

In response to information circulated regarding the remuneration corresponding to the

—The remuneration of the President of the Republic does not constitute a pay raise nor does it respond to a personal decision by the Head of State.

It corresponds strictly to the application of the current legal framework established in Law No. 30057, Civil Service Law, as well as regulations approved by the competent State-run entities.

—In that regard, as of July 2025, the presidential post is entitled to monthly compensation of S/35,568 (about US$10,279), an amount set on the basis of technical, administrative, and budgetary criteria established by law.

—Likewise, it should be clarified that President Jose Maria Balcazar assumed office on February 18, 2026; therefore, from that date he was entitled to the proportional amount for the days he served in that month, totaling S/15,412.80 (about US$4,445), which was included in the March 2026 payslip.

In addition, legally applicable deductions were made corresponding to the remuneration items for February and March.

—The Presidential Office reaffirms that all payments made to the President of the Republic are subject to administrative, tax, and budgetary control, with full transparency and within the current regulatory framework.

It reiterates its commitment to the responsible management of public resources and to providing clear information to all Peruvians.
