During the meeting, both officials discussed the importance of strengthening the Peruvian State’s response capacity in both areas, as well as in other priority fields for the country, such as infrastructure, digital health, and connectivity.
“We have discussed specific matters regarding security, in preparation for El Niño, as well as basic infrastructure, water networks, sanitation, education, and health. Thus, good announcements are coming in the following weeks,” Fujimori stated.
In this context, the President thanked CAF for its collaboration and willingness to cooperate.
The top official stated that the multilateral organization is a strategic partner for the country’s development.
“They gave us a presentation on the projects that are moving forward. And, of course, we are already planning for the coming years to expand the credit line and the support they will provide us,” she underscored.
In turn, CAF Executive President Sergio Diaz-Granados reported that the organization’s teams are working in coordination with the Government to strengthen various processes in the country, particularly in the area of security.
Likewise, the CAF head noted that cooperation can contribute to strengthening intelligence, combating transnational crime, and coordinating with neighboring countries.
“And increase our presence through intelligence, while also fighting transnational crime in coordination with neighboring countries. The bank can provide significant assistance and make a major contribution in this area,” he said.
Diaz-Granados indicated that the meeting assessed the potential implications of El Niño for Peru and other South American countries, as well as the need to strengthen preparedness for its possible effects.
“We have come to offer you technical assistance and financing to better address and plan for this environmental crisis that will affect us here in Latin America and the Caribbean,” he pointed out.
The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
