chaired meetings aimed at establishing new measures in the declared war on crime, with the objective of reducing public insecurity perception and restoring citizens’ confidence in the Peruvian State.

From Lima’s Government Palace, the Head of State said that new strategies will soon be unveiled under the National Citizen Security Plan.

It is being developed in coordination with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers; the Ministries of Justice and Human Rights, Interior, Health; the Peruvian National Police; and other relevant authorities.

The top official also noted that, following the declaration of a state of emergency in Lima and Callao, encouraging results have been achieved, allowing for the intensification and rollout of targeted actions.

“With the measures taken, we know there are already concrete results. The state of emergency is working, but there is still significant room for improvement, which we will take into account going forward,” he indicated.

President Jeri asserted that the upcoming citizen security plan will include strategic objectives which can be measured both by the citizenry and by future authorities who take office.

Its main objective is to strengthen citizens’ trust, sustainably reduce violent crimes such as homicide and extortion, as well as lower the victimization rate.

“The State’s coordinated effort is working, but it can still be improved. In that spirit, I thank all the efforts of every actor committed to and involved in this fight, which I am confident we will win,” he concluded.
