Coventry arrived in Peru to take part in Panam Sports Week.

Education Minister Jose Antonio Chang, Lima 2027 Organizing Committee and Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) Chairman Oscar Fernandez, and Panam Sports’ top representative Neven Ilic were also present at the meeting.

The visit by IOC Chairwoman Kirsty Coventry confirms the world’s leading sports organization’s confidence in Peru’s ability to host major events and position itself as a sporting benchmark in the region.

Additionally, it strengthens the vision of sport as a driver of social transformation, capable of creating opportunities for children and youth, promoting healthy habits, and contributing to a more integrated and safer society.

Panam Sports Annual General Assembly in Peru

The meeting also highlighted Peru’s ability to host major events, such as the Panam Sports Annual General Assembly set to take place in Lima on August 27.

Holding the Panam Sports Annual General Assembly in Peru, as the host country of the 20th Pan American Games and 8th Parapan American Games Lima 2027, enables the country to strengthen strategic partnerships with the continent’s 41 National Olympic Committees.
