Peru: President Fujimori lands in San Martin region to boost support for farmers

Continuing her working agenda across the country, President Keiko Fujimori arrived on Thursday in San Martin region, where she will carry out activities aimed at strengthening the development and legal certainty for agricultural producers.

As part of her eleventh working trip, the Head of State will travel to Elias Soplin Vargas district, in Rioja province.

There, the top official will participate in the handover of contracts for the purchase of rice from small-scale producers.

The measure entails an investment of S/6.1 million (about US$1.8 million) to purchase 2,364 tons of rice from 200 farmers.

Likewise, the Head of State will lead the handover of 8,000 rural land titles to agricultural producers from San Martin’s 10 provinces, with the aim of providing them with greater legal certainty regarding the land they occupy and work.

President Fujimori will be accompanied by Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Marco Vinelli, San Martin Region Governor Walter Grundel, and local authorities.
