On the 202nd anniversary of the Battle of Junin, one of the decisive military engagements in the independence process of Peru and South America, the Presidency of the Republic paid tribute to the brave horsemen who, on Pampa of Junin, wrote a defining chapter in Peruvian history.
“Because on that August 6, 1824, the courage of our horsemen paved the way to Ayacucho and reminded us that Peru’s freedom was won through bravery, unity, and love for the homeland,” the Presidential Office stated in a message posted on social media.

“Their legacy of courage and patriotism continues to inspire service to the nation,” it added.

In that regard, it paid tribute “to those who fought for our nation’s liberty, and we remember their historic legacy.”

It should be noted that since 2022, August 6 has been an official national holiday under Law No. 31530.
The law mandates its observance in both the public and private sectors, with private-sector employees required to coordinate with their employer in advance.
