reported that the fishing sector grew 25.70% in October 2025 compared to the same month last year.

INEI’s technical report “Current Economic Activity Update” explained that this increase is due to higher catches of marine species (37.28%), of which 38.42% were intended for direct human consumption in two of its four destinations: freezing (81.5%) and fresh consumption (17.6%).

Meanwhile, it decreased for canned production (-10.9%) and curing (-39%).

Inland fishing decreased by 18.1%, explained by lower catches of species for fresh consumption (-16.3%), freezing (-25.4%), and curing (-40.6%).

The hydrocarbons subsector grew by 4.21% last October compared to the same month in 2024.

It was driven by higher crude oil extraction volume (14%) and natural gas liquids (3.2%).

In turn, the electricity subsector increased by 3.31% last October compared to the same month in 2024.
