Foreign Ministry evacuates Peruvian family from Jerusalem, deploys support in Middle East | Noticias

on Monday reported that it has successfully evacuated to Jordan a Peruvian family of 10 who had been stranded in Jerusalem, and has deployed consular actions across Middle Eastern countries to support nationals in said region.

It specified that the Peruvian family crossed the Allenby Crossing into Jordan with assistance from the Embassy of Peru in Israel.

Afterward, they traveled to the city of Amman under the supervision of the Peruvian honorary consul-candidate in Amman and with coordination by the Embassy of Peru in Egypt, which has jurisdiction over Jordan.

In a statement, the Ministry said it coordinates support for their return to Peru from Madrid, Spain.

The government agency added that it remains in permanent contact and coordination with a second group of more than 20 Peruvians who are still in the area, in order to provide the necessary assistance for their eventual evacuation.

“At Peru’s request, the Consular Support Network of the South American Conference on Migration was activated. This mechanism, currently coordinated by Chile, enables a joint response by South American countries to optimize evacuation and assistance efforts,” the statement said.

Likewise, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said it maintains coordination with its counterparts of Türkiye and Azerbaijan so that, if necessary, the evacuation of Peruvians residing in Tehran can be facilitated through the border crossings they share with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“It urges nationals who reside in or are temporarily in the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf to step up precautionary measures by strictly following the instructions of local authorities, avoiding travel without the knowledge of those authorities, and staying informed about developments in the security situation solely through official channels,” the government agency noted.
