2026 Elections: Peru expects responsibility and coordination from the electoral system | Noticias

said Peru expects the electoral system to act with responsibility, coordination, and responsiveness in the presidential runoff election.

“It is precisely what we have been working on: strengthening oversight, reinforcing supervision mechanisms, and permanently monitoring the development and conduct of the electoral process,” Burneo indicated.

The JNE head said his presence at this event sought to give peace of mind and a message to citizens through gestures, concrete actions, and the willingness to continue working so the runoff election is held with the guarantees the country needs.

In that context, he highlighted the coordinated work being carried out by electoral system institutions together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the presidential runoff is “conducted in the best possible manner.”

“I once again call on all political actors and citizens to contribute so this new electoral stage unfolds in an atmosphere of respect, calm, and democratic responsibility,” Burneo stated.

The electoral authority also noted that the deployment of electoral material abroad by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will allow Peruvians residing in various countries around the world to exercise their right to vote in the runoff election.

The JNE head reiterated that, as the National Elections Board (JNE), it is essential to monitor and oversee these actions, as well as strengthen transparency and trust in all the work being carried out by the electoral system.

“We understand that this credibility and trust surrounding the runoff election must be built little by little,” he said.
