A boat from Mushu Island in Wewak, East Sepik, was successfully rescued by a team from Yakamul and Ulau villages along the Aitape East Coastlines after it was overpowered by huge waves and stranded off the coast of Yakamul and Ulau last week.
Speaking to Post-Courier Online, Mr Emmanuel Unakau, an elite from Ulau village, said the boat was traveling from Aitape to Wewak with 8 passengers on board and three drums of petrol, when they encountered very bad weather, but they were successfully rescued and brought ashore by a local rescue team from Chimau in Ulau led by skipper Ignatius Paniu, Ward 10 councilor Mr Charlse Wasuel and others.
