Buin Secondary School is now able to accommodate teaching staff, following the completion of construction works on a new staff duplex house.

Valued at over K500, 000.00, the staff duplex house was built with public funding support from the South Bougainville DDA and Office of the South Bougainville MP and ICT Minister, Timothy Masiu.

The lack of adequate institutional housing has been an ongoing challenge for the school administration with teaching staff having to be accommodated in rental properties off-campus. The new duplex

house is expected to lessen the burden of having to secure proper accommodation for teachers and also, save costs for the learning facility.

Final inspections have been carried out on the housing project and keys will be handed over the school this week.

Other school infrastructure projects that are earmarked for completion this year includes the school administration building. Buin Secondary School in South Bougainville was ranked 9th amongst the country’s top performing schools in 2025.
