KUDJIP Nazarene Health Ministries (NHM) and the Jiwaka Provincial Health Authority (JPHA) board have come to a mutual understanding to work in partnership and continue to serve the people through improved health service delivery.

The two parties held a round-table discussion at the Kudjip NHM administration building, where they ironed out the issues and pledged to work together as a team to serve the people rather than compete with each other in health service delivery.

Some of the concerns raised included the lack of financial assistance, the absence of an NHM representative on the JPHA board despite the 2013 PHA Act, staff on the Alesco payroll, and frequent requests and recommendations from the accreditation process, along with other surrounding issues that have hindered them from working together.

They received no response, and due to inadequate funding, NHM nearly closed its doors to patients at the end of last year.

The Nazarene Church established the health service in 1967 and trained workers as Aid Post Orderlies (APOs). Over time, the facility gradually expanded and was elevated to Jiwaka Provincial General Hospital after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jiwaka Provincial Government in 2017, paving the way for the establishment of the Jiwaka Provincial Health Authority (JPHA).

The NHM’s mission and vision are to provide quality health services to the people of Jiwaka and the country as a whole.
