The Bank of Papua New Guinea (BPNG) has officially launched a new K100 banknote, immortalising Sir Julius Chan’s foundational legacy as the architect of the nation’s financial independence.
Governor Elizabeth Genia unveiled the new design today, marking a historic moment that connects the central bank’s origins to its future. The note, which serves as PNG’s highest denomination, now carries the portrait of the man who led the negotiations to establish an independent central bank more than five decades ago.
