Government Department faces service cut by landlord over unpaid rent

Staff of the Department of Justice and Attorney General (DJAG) together with its Judiciary offices were forced to stay home as of yesterday following the shutdown of essential services in their office building due to unpaid rent.

The department operates from the West New Britain Haus in Port Moresby, which also accommodates the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the State Solicitor, and other state legal and administrative agencies. According to a Post-Courier report at the time of the building’s opening in 2021, the facility serves as a central hub for the state’s legal administration.
