DIGITAL SUMMIT FOCUSES ON YOUTH AS KEY TO TRANSFORMATION

Tuesday 28th October, 2025

The Digital Transformation Summit (DTS25) returns this year with a major focus on youth and student participation and engagement.

Minister for Police and Acting Minister for ICT Hon. Peter Tsiamalili Jr noted this in his press statement on Tuesday October 21, 2025 announcing the Summit.

“We prefer to listen and engage in dialogue with our students and youth rather than reprimand and distance them from us,” he said.

“At the end of the day, digital transformation is ultimately about people,” he added

Minister Tsiamalili said they hope that in doing so, they inspire the young generation to think, build, and create ethically in the digital space.

Scheduled to take place from Monday 24 November to Thursday 27 November, 2025 at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby, the four-day DTS25 is scheduled to host one of the biggest digital gaming competition in the southwest Pacific as a platform to engage young people in conversations like online safety.

Minister Tsiamalili said the Summit now in its third edition continues to grow in scale and impact, standing as the nation’s premier platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in digital development.

“It reflects how far we have progressed under the Digital Transformation Policy 2020 and the subsequent policies endorsed by Government,” he said.

The DTS25 will convene a diverse community of participants, including academics, researchers, students, ICT vendors, technology start-ups, telcos, banks, development partners, digital transformation officers, and policy makers.

Aside from policy dialogue and technical exchange, the DTS25 will feature an Expo showcasing local and international innovation, a Coding Hackathon to inspire young developers, Cyber War simulations to strengthen national cybersecurity readiness, and more, blending digital education, skills, and entertainment to engage and inspire the next generation.

Registration opened Friday 24 October on the Department of ICT website.
