Happy 50th Independence PNG from Bubuleta Elementary school in Huhu LLG, Alotau Milne bay province.

The colours of red, black and gold flooded the main highway from Alotau to East Cape, the country’s most eastern tip in Milne Bay province. There were chants and shouts of joy proudly proclaiming our country’s 50th anniversary. A march was organised displaying the colours of freedom, which took them from one end of the community to the other.

Activities lined up to celebrate their pre-independence celebrations before going for the third term holidays were a march in the morning to the school grounds, where a flag raising ceremony was conducted.

A time taken for devotion led by pastor of Kwato Church, Toliana Luke. Pastor Luke read a scripture in Luke 18:15-17, encouraging parents to bring the children to the lord Jesus Christ. He emphasised in having a life like the children to enter the kingdom of God and live a good life. The children then took to the sporting area for fun games with prizes awarded to them. The day came to an end in the afternoon with the lowering of the flags.

Bubuleta Elementary School was earlier in the year announced and elevated to primary status by the Provincial Education Advisor, Roma Tuidam. Plans and work towards building of new classrooms and teachers houses are underway to cater for the first Grade 3 in the new year.
