The PNG Chiefs have secured a major coup for their football department, officially signing former NRL star and championship-winning coach Luke Burt as the club’s new Assistant Coach. Alongside his assistant duties, Burt will also take on the specialized role of club goal-kicking coach.
He brings outstanding credentials to the Chiefs following a legendary playing career. As a one-club icon for the Parramatta Eels, Burt made 264 NRL appearances, featured in two Grand Finals in 2001 and 2009, and scored 124 tries to become the club’s all-time leading try-scorer. He was also one of the most prolific and accurate goal-kickers of his era, making him uniquely qualified to sharpen the Chiefs’ kicking roster.
