The celebrations to commemorate the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Aitape were officially kicked off yesterday with motorbike and bicycle floats around Aitape and creative dances, and the celebrations will continue today and conclude tomorrow, the 17th of September 2025.

Aitape Primary School has been tasked to lead the March and flag raising ceremony this morning to officiate today’s events.

Students and teachers will also perform their 4 tumbuna singsing from their 4 groups, the Winti House, Somare House, Chan House, and Skate House, which they showcased during pre-celebrations at the school leading up to today.

Teachers and students are now finalizing marching rehearsals and will march into Aitape town and into the Parer Oval, where the Flag Raising Ceremony will be conducted.
